At Saks, the health and well-being of Associates and their families are important to us. That’s why, as part of our total rewards package, we provide comprehensive benefits that offer choice and flexibility. The following is a brief overview of our benefits offerings.
Medical and Prescription Drug Coverage
Our medical plans provide comprehensive coverage, including prescription drug benefits and 100% coverage for preventive care services. Saks pays the majority of the cost of medical benefits.
Saks offers two dental plan options that provide comprehensive coverage and pay 100% for in-network preventive care services. The plans also provide varying levels of coverage for basic, major and orthodontia services.
Our vision plans provide coverage for eye exams as well as a benefit toward the purchase of glasses or contact lenses.
Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)
FSAs give Associates the opportunity to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible healthcare and/or dependent care expenses. When you use these accounts, you lower your taxable income, so you may pay less in current income taxes.
Saks offers various wellness programs to promote the health of Associates and their families. These programs focus on helping Associates achieve and maintain good physical health and emotional well-being. They also support Associates in achieving work/life balance.
INSURANCE AND DISABILITY COVERAGE
Basic Life Insurance: Saks provides a company-paid benefit equal to one times annual salary up to a maximum of $1 million (once you complete one year of service).
Optional and Dependent Life Insurance: Associates can purchase additional financial protection for themselves, their spouses and dependent children.
Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance
Saks provides Company-paid AD&D insurance at no cost to Associates in the event of death or serious injuries as the result of an accident. Associates are covered for one times their annual salary up to a maximum of $1 million.
Saks offers disability coverage to protect Associates from loss of income if they cannot work as the result of illness or injury.
Short-Term Disability (STD): Saks automatically provides a percentage of pre-disability earnings for Associates unable to work for five or more consecutive days.
Long-Term Disability (LTD): Associates can elect coverage that will pay a benefit of up to 60% of their pre-disability earnings (up to a maximum amount) if they are unable to work for an extended period of time. LTD benefits begin on the 180th day of continuous total disability.
Long-Term Care Insurance
Long-Term Care Insurance provides a monthly benefit in the event the insured person can no longer perform some of the activities of daily living. Associates can elect financial protection for themselves and their family members, including spouses, adult children, parents, grandparents and in-laws.
Business Travel Accident Insurance
Associates traveling on Company business are automatically provided with coverage for total disability and other injuries. The plan also covers spouses and children traveling with the Associate.
RETIREMENT AND SAVINGS BENEFITS
Saks Incorporated 401(k) Plan
Associates have the opportunity to save for the future through pre-tax contributions to the 401(k) plan. Eligible Associates may also receive a company matching contribution on the first 5% of pay they contribute to the plan.
Associates can set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible commuting expenses for parking and public transportation.
NextGen 529 College Savings Plan
The NextGen College Savings Plan is a tax-advantaged way to save and invest for higher-education expenses. You can fund education expenses for yourself, your child, grandchild or other family member.
The Saks Fifth Avenue Employee’s Federal Credit Union offers Associates an easy way to save and borrow money.
All Associates receive a 30% discount on full-priced and markdown merchandise at Saks Fifth Avenue stores, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5th stores, and saks.com. Associates also receive a 20% discount on all cosmetic and fragrance products, SFA Home and alteration and repair services.
Paid Time Off (PTO)
The PTO program provides Associates with a bank of time with a specified number of days/hours to use for any reason when you need to take time away from work.
Graduated Return to Work for New Parents
This program helps new parents re-enter the work environment gradually by allowing them to work a percentage of their regularly scheduled hours in the weeks following the birth or adoption of a child.
Leaves of Absence
Associates may take time away from work to recover from an illness, care for a family member or serve in the military.
Associates called to jury duty are excused from work and will be paid their normal work schedule pay for up to four weeks.
Saks provides paid bereavement leave to help Associates deal with the death of a family member.
Associates are eligible to receive holiday pay for legal holidays that are officially observed in a particular location. Legal holidays include New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
Full-time Associates and their family members automatically have access to EAP counselors at no cost to them. This confidential program offers consultation and information on issues such as health, emotional well-being, addiction and recovery, parenting and child care and more.
Group Legal Services
Saks offers this benefit, which includes legal services, financial planning and federal tax advice services. The plan provides benefits for most covered legal services with no copayments or deductibles.
