This role is responsible for assisting and supporting all categories of SAKS, on-figure and Looklet RTW product photography within the NY studio. She/He works with the Manager of RTW Photography, and with a team of Photographers and Stylists, to meet daily productivity levels, and assists in producing photography of luxury merchandise to high quality standards.
The Digital Technician spends a significant percentage of time helping to create, traffic and catalog photography assets for on-figure photography sets.  Additionally,  this role will have the opportunity to gain experience photographing ghost product shots, product detail shots, or any additional views required for the product display page. 

The studio is a well-equipped, fast-paced environment with an average of 65 items shot per day per RTW set. A strong focus and sense of urgency is required. She/He is highly attentive to detail with the ability to thrive in a team-oriented role. This role is  required to assist in other areas of the studio when needed, including our Stills Photography and Editorial areas.


The Digital Tech is responsible for (but not limited to); 
  • Assist with daily RTW product shoots daily
  • Photographer’s second eye to ensure all imagery meets high quality and site standards
  • Photographer’s second eye to ensure lighting and camera equipment is set to HBC digital standards
  • Naming, cropping and processing of digital assets and before uploading to Image Edit teams
  • Ensuring workflows and processes are properly followed
  • Support manager with maintenance an
  • organization of studio space and equipment
  • Partner with manager to:
    • Find efficiencies and improvements in workflows and processes
    • Scheduling testing opportunities to build upon technical skills
    • Identify testing, research and development 

Primary Goals 
  • Support photographer with prepping and breaking down the set for the day. 
  • Oversight of Capture One on-set; checking for proper ISO, Camera format, ICC profile and processing images according to our standards.
  • Serve as second eye to the Photographer by regularly checking for focus and ensure color consistency, color balance, exposure, and curves on all images. 
  • Assist photographer in problem solving issues with the camera, computer, software programs, and lighting power packs/strobes. 
  • Maintaining the workflow that insures completing the daily production requirements.
  • Serve as the liaison between the post team and the on-set team for facilitating image edits & missing images.  Manage on-set exceptions to images for timely correction and process urgent files as per request.

  • BFA in Photography, or Arts related field
  • Knowledge of photographic techniques such as lighting and composition.
  • Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Productivity-focused and quick problem solver with proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines
  • Self-driven and enthusiastic work ethic that is able to effectively communicate creative ideas and collaborate in a multi-team environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds of equipment.
  • 1-3 years of on-set experience as an Assistant or Digital Tech / Photographer’s Assistant, preferably in fashion or related field
  • Expert level proficiency with the industry standard software tools (Adobe Creative Cloud, Canon Camera Systems, and Capture One Pro 9 and above) and Mac OS
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to perform under pressure
