Candidate Privacy Notice

 

This Candidate Privacy Notice (“Notice”) describes how Saks (collectively, “Saks,” “Company,” “we,” or “us”) collect and process personal information about candidates  who inquire about and/or apply for employment with the Company. This Privacy Notice applies to job applicants only. ).  This notice is intended to comply with all applicable laws, including  the California Consumer Privacy Act.  If any provisions below conflict with a legal requirement, then the Company will comply with the applicable law.

 

1. Information We Collect and How We Use That  Information

 

Saks collects, uses, and discloses personal information about job candidates for business purposes only and consistent with applicable laws.  

 
Below are the categories of personal information we collect and the puropse for which we intend to use the information when you inquire about and/or apply for employment at Saks:


  • Contact information, such as your name, home and work address, personal and work telephone numbers, personal and work email addresses.  We may use this information to open and maintain candidate records and communicate with you regarding your interest in a job opportunity with us, your application for employment, or updates on your candidacy.

  • Identification information, such as your Social Security or Social Insurance number, driver’s license and passport information, country of birth or the country where you are a registered national or citizen and any visa status or other right to work, and identifiers and login credentials associated with our Careers website.  We may use this information to determine your eligibility to work and fulfill our obligations to relevant government authorities. We may also use this information to access and review your application materials.

  • Job-related information and qualifications, such as the position you applied for, your resume, cover letter, job application, background check, previous work history and references, educational background, awards, qualifications, certificates, licenses, compensation and salary information, and any other information you choose to provide in your resumes and/or applications.  We may use this information to assess your suitability for a position at the Company and conflict of interest reporting (to the extent permitted or required by law).

  • Interview, video, photographic, and audio information, such as information you share and notes about your interview, portfolio submissions that contain personal information, call recordings when you call for application/candidate support. We may use this information to review your application and to support our employment recruiting efforts. 

  • Travel-related records, such as frequent flyer numbers, itineraries, flight, train, rental car, car service, hotel or other similar information.  We may use this information to arrange or reimburse travel where you require travel to interview with us or in connection with your candidacy for employment, to contact you during travel, as necessary with travel service providers, or in an emergency situation.

  • References, such as opinions and comments of any previous employers.  We may use this to determine your suitability for certain job roles.

  • Demographic information, such as your gender and gender identity, ethnicity, religion and sexual orientation.  We may use this to conduct equal opportunity and diversity monitoring where permitted or required by law.

In addition to these uses, Saks may use and share personal information we collect:

  • To comply with applicable legal and regulatory requests and obligations (including investigations).

  • To establish or defend legal claims and allegations.

  • For security or to prevent, detect, or investigate fraud, suspected or actual illegal activity, or other misconduct.

  • To seek advice from lawyers, auditors and other professional advisers.

  • To conduct background checks or otherwise gather information to determine your suitability for a potential position as consistent with or required by law.


Saks discloses personal information to third parties only for the same business purposes described above. Where appropriate, Saks requires those parties to protect the confidentiality of the information and maintain appropriate systems and processes to ensure its security and protection.

If you use our online application system, you will provide the requested information to Workday who provide this online service for us. Once you click ‘Apply’ you will be taken to Workday’s website and they will hold the information you submit but Saks will have access to it.  If you accept a final offer from us, your personnel records will be held on Workday.  They will be accessible only by authorized Saks employees.  You can review Workday’s Privacy Notice here: https://www.workday.com/en-us/service-privacy.html
